Corriedale roving – Dark – Black

Dark, a black corriedale roving / top. An all purpose wool at around 27 microns,  this smooth combed Corriedale roving comes from New Zealand.  These combed wool tops  are about 4m per 100gm (4yd/3.5oz), and 23g/m (0.81oz/yd). It also spins beautifully and  can be blended or carded with a variety of other wool and fibres  including viscose.

Dyeing of this DHG product complies with Oeko-Tex standards for safety and GOTS – Global Organic Textile Standard. While this black corriedale roving comes in a  rope-like format with the fibres aligned, we also stock carded Corriedale . ‘Maori’ batts – a blend of Corriedale and Coopworth wool, favoured by needle felters and available in a variety of colours.

With a hardy constitution and long life span, Corriedale sheep  originated in New Zealand in the 1880’s – the oldest of all the crossbred breeds .  Commercially viable and a popular general purpose wool for felting and spinning. Most commonly used for heavier wearables, certain knitting yarns, mats, boots & other durable items.
